Double fired clay pavers in a contemporary design by Monbaliu landscape gardeners

Home, environment and garden in harmony

This modern, newly built villa forms a geometric ensemble in a green setting. A series of small volumes and smart views together create a sense of openness and intimacy. A striking no-fuss design, but not without its points of interest.

The surrounding garden fits in perfectly with the home’s style and the wooded environment. In this way, house and garden form an architectural unit that is much more than the sum of its parts.
A wonderful, timeless work produced by landscape gardeners Tuinonderneming Monbaliu.

Bart Monbaliu and his team design both traditional and modern-looking gardens. The unifying theme is maximum enjoyment of your garden throughout the seasons and a perfect integration of house, garden and surroundings.

The house is strategically placed in the middle of the garden so that it creates the impression that it is floating upon a sea of green. A low level of planting keeps the surrounding green view perfectly intact. The existing trees were kept.

The garden is predominantly green with a blend of different colours and textures. The strong design structures produce a fascinating mix of shapes and lines. These structures ensure depth and relief, strengthening the connection with the home and fulfilling different roles, all without dividing the garden up into separate blocks.

The most eye-catching part of the garden is undoubtedly the long pool with a clay paved patio – Tuinonderneming Monbaliu’s trademark. The pool is 2.90 by 15 metres, a rectangle cut from the ground, adding a dazzling blue strip to the green surroundings.

What is noticeable about the pool is that it appears to be sitting upon the grass and surrounding clay paved patio.

Because there is almost no difference in level with the grass and the patio and no typical edge to the pool, it has a very minimalistic appearance and a striking look.

In paving, Bart Monbaliu uses one of his favourite materials: clay pavers. The beige-grey clay pavers (SeptimA Salvia) are high-quality, wear-resistant and emanate a natural feeling.

They go perfectly with the pool and produce a striking look for the whole garden.
The driveway at the front of the house was also laid in clay pavers – a rewarding and versatile material.
