Swimming amongst waves of green
Some creepers and evergreen ball and cloud-shaped box bushes were placed against the side walls, softening the otherwise harsh lines of the building. Together with the owners Frederiek opted to place the mosaic overflow swimming pool at a sunny height by the house.
He created a lovely neat edge using Ancienne Belgique, dark lava clay pavers from Vande Moortel and placed steps at the sides and back, allowing the residents easy access to the pool. In between the house and the swimming pool Frederiek planted a wide, half-height, wavy box hedge hiding the view of the swimming pool cover from the house.
A sloping box border screens off the cover roll.
Around the house Frederiek laid a wide clay paver path weaving delightfully around the evergreen box bushes. The lawns around the house follow the natural slopes of the landscape.
He placed high trees and large bushes like green islands along the sides of the lawn. At the edge of the garden the owners can enjoy a stroll in the shade amongst the trees.
The organic path meanders between the high plants, alongside hydrangeas, ferns and shade-loving plants. A sunken irrigation system keeps everything fresh and green all year round.
Landscape and garden architect Jonas D’hoore from Creatief in groen created this landscaped garden around a renovated square farmhouse in Poperinge.
The design integrates the farmhouse into the surrounding landscape of fields in the Westhoek.
