Elegantia vanilla plays a crucial role in aesthetic and functional design
In the hustle and bustle of the city, we all dream of a quiet place, where nature and aesthetics come together seamlessly. For this garden in Kortrijk, this dream has become reality, thanks to a careful combination of plants, water management and the perfect choice of paving: the Elegantia vanilla clay pavers from Brickworks Vande Moortel. This design was so convincing that it won the Vande Moortel Clay Paver Award 2022-2023 in the category of City Gardens.
The basis for peace and elegance
The Vande Moortel clay pavers play a crucial role in the design of this beautiful city garden. With their warm, subtle shades, they form the basis for the garden paths and seating areas. These pavers not only offer an aesthetic contrast with the lively planting, but also create a harmonious atmosphere that invites relaxation. The timeless character of clay ensures that the pavers only become more beautiful over time, while retaining their robustness.
Smart design for a sustainable result
The choice of Vande Moortel was no coincidence. When designing this city garden in Kortrijk, a sustainable and ecologically responsible design was consciously chosen. Clay is a naturally sustainable material with a long lifespan. It requires little maintenance and is resistant to the ravages of time. This makes the Elegantia vanilla clay pavers not only an aesthetically responsible choice, but also an environmentally friendly one. In combination with an energy-efficient LED lighting system that works on solar energy and smart planting, this garden contributes to a sustainable and future-proof urban environment.
The Vande Moortel pavers are also strategically alternated with pebbles, which is not only visually attractive, but also functional. The use of rounded surfaces for the pavers and angular surfaces for the pebbles was a conscious choice to create a play of contrasts. This combination creates a playful pattern that enhances the natural appearance of the garden, while at the same time allowing for efficient water drainage. Thanks to this design, rainwater is collected and reused for irrigation of the garden, which reduces water consumption. In short, the use of Vande Moortel clay pavers in this design goes beyond functionality.
Thanks to the use of high-quality and sustainable materials in combination with efficient water management and a diversity of plant species, this city garden is not only an oasis of peace and aesthetics, but also an example of sustainable and ecological garden architecture. A worthy winner of the Clay Paver Award for City Gardens.
